JAITLY LLP was founded by Rajiv Jaitly in 2009 to provide independent fund governance expertise and due diligence services to its clients.

Rajiv’s academic specialisation was in risk management which then extended into his professional career in managing business risk.

He holds the following qualifications:

  • B.Sc Ag (Honours in Plant Protection) (Punjab Agricultural University)
  • Chartered Accountant  (FCA, ICAEW)
  • Licensed Insolvency Practitioner (ICAEW)
  • Fellow of the Securities Institute (FCSI (Dip)) (Diploma exam passes in Corporate Finance and Regulation & Compliance)
  • Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals

Rajiv is an experienced risk professional who specialises in alternative investments, operational risk and due diligence on investment funds and corporate governance more generally.

He is a Chartered Accountant and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner and has many years experience in the investigation and management of businesses experiencing financial problems. He dealt with a number of major insolvencies in the UK during the 80s and 90s including Polly Peck Plc, BCCI and Maxwell.  He developed an investigation methodology for Deloittes which was rolled out in the UK and Australia and specialised in technical issues as the National Technical Manager of the Deloitte’s Corporate Recovery Practice and dealt with risk matters for the accounting practice nationally as a Senior Manager in its Risk Management and Practice Protection team.

He has specialised in Hedge Funds since 2000 and was responsible  for creating one of the largest independent operational risk teams in the world, as Head of Operational Risk at GAM, then one of the worlds largest Fund of Hedge Fund businesses.  He has also authored a book on practical operational due diligence on hedge funds which was  published by John Wiley in 2016.

He has board level  and management committee level experience of managing funds and investment management companies and other organisations. He set up  and managed due diligence and investment management (middle and back office) operations for major companies such as Santander and AXA  where he had various roles such as Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer of the alternatives business and, Deputy Global Head and Chief Operating Officer of the Fund of Hedge Fund Platforms.  He has current appointments at board level in the UK and overseas and chairs various board committees.

He has also worked with the Regulatory Policy team of the UK Pensions Regulator advising on matters including asset protection, fund costs, employer covenants, capital adequacy and auto -enrolment. 

He was appointed an expert by the Office of Fair Trading for its market study of the DC pensions market and was commissioned to write a report on fund costs by the Financial Services Consumer Panel which was published in 2014.    

He also currently advises investors in hedge funds and hedge fund boards on business and operational risk.
